Top two start to show title nerves

The nerves are starting to show at the top of the Cookley Indoor League Division One with defeats for the top two.

Leaders Netherton Cons A' lost to Cradley labour 18-15 and second placed DMBEC C' suffered a shock set back going down 16-11 against bottom club Coombs Wood.

In Division Two Cradley Heath Liberals have taken over at the top after a 30-12 victory against Black Country Bowls.

The Libs are one point clear of the White Horse who lost 17-15 to Netherton Cons B'.

Black Country outfit Baggeridge moved ten points clear of the rest in the Hadley Indoor Sunday league at Smethwick after beating third-placed Thornbridge 34-26.

Ken Colesby and John Flavell 14-5.

The British Ladies Crown Green Bowling Club Championships will take place at the Woodfield and Pennfields Bowls Clubs Wolverhampton on Sunday April 13.

BCGBA Chief Executive John Crowther has reminded clubs about several changes to rules approved by delegates at the BCGBA Rules Revision Meeting.

There is a significant alteration to Bye Law 11.

Promoters of bowling contests inviting or accepting entries from outside the county staging the event after applying to their county authority must apply to the BCGBA and pay an annual affiliation fee of £6, 28 days before the commencement of the contest.

In other words Open Contest organisers must receive approval from their County Association before an open contest certificate can be issued.

In connection with BCGBA competitions and county matches all players must conform to the dress code when they are practising as well as playing in the actual match.

All County Associations are now required to appoint a county development officer.

The person appointed will be required to support the process of gaining and retaining Clubmark status for the National Association. If any clubs are interested in gaining Clubmark accreditation they should contact they should contact the county development officer.

BCGBA Management Committee Chairman Bob Jackson officiated at his last meeting when he took the chair at the BCGBA Rules Revision Meeting after six years in the position which began back in 2002.

Alan Tizard from South Yorkshire is the new BCGBA President with Ron Holt from Merseyside his Deputy.
