Monaco Grand Prix By Craig Styles
The 2011 Monaco Grand Prix is defiantly the race every driver wants to win, glitz glammer and F1 cars everybody wants to be at Monaco this weekend.
The only race we have on the calendar where free practice one and two takes place on the Thursday leaving Friday as a traditional public holiday.
Free practice one and 2 passed without incident but much more eventful on Saturday.
Both Nico Rosberg and Sergio Perez crashed at 170mph out of the tunnel heading towards the Nouvelle Chicane, Rosberg escaped unhurt but Perez was hospitalised with concussion.
Sebastian Vettel put his red bull on pole position for the race and it looked like he would coast home to a win, but Alonso and Button gave him some pressure.
Lewis Hamilton was in the spotlight again on and off the track but gave some great overtakes especially on Massa through the tunnel.
The race was red flagged on lap 72 because of Petrov’s accident.
This accident won Vettel the race as they could change tyres on the Vettel’s car, if the race had not been stopped Vettel’s; tyres would have gone off completely loosing him 2-3 second per lap, so Button or Alonso would have been fighting for the top step of the podium.
Great racing but Lewis Hamilton must keep out of trouble to keep his championship dreams alive.
