THE construction of more than 40 new homes on the site of a former plant nursery in Blakedown  is well underway.

The sustainable new community is being created by Barratt West Midlands in Belbroughton Road.

The development, named Gladstone Place, will bring a total of 42 new homes to the area, 19 of which will be affordable housing. The mix of homes will consist of two-bedroom bungalows and three-, four-, five- and six-bedroom houses in the new Barratt house type range.

The site layout is in keeping with the surrounding residential area. Most of the new development will run along side Millennium Green which is a large public open space which will give most of the houses at this new development a great view.

Barratt will also be making a financial contribution to the local authority. A total of £179,000 will be put towards local services, including education, open spaces and bio-diversity.

Andrea Shotbolt, Senior Sales Manager for Barratt West Midlands, said: “We are thrilled to be making progress at our latest development in Blakedown. We are looking forward to creating a thriving new community.

“The choice of home styles will be ideal for first-time buyers, growing families and downsizers. Blakedown is located in the Wyre Forest district, just outside Kidderminster and offers a range of local amenities.

“Gladstone Place is also ideally located for those needing to commute with easy access to the M5 and M42 giving access to further afield.”
