BRISK demand for factory-warehouses has seen property agents John Truslove fix up a succession of occupiers in the same road in Bromsgrove.

“We've let three warehouses totalling over 14,000 sq ft on Buntsford Park Road in rapid succession, with a further 16,000 sq ft currently in legals,” said partner Ben Truslove.

“We just can't get the instructions quick enough!”

He went on: “Indeed the big problem is now a lack of available stock. There are very few industrial warehouse buildings available for sale in Redditch or Bromsgrove and many of the established estates are almost fully let.

“This is a result of the lack of speculative development in the last ten years.”

One of the lettings was to Jade Sheds who have moved to Unit 1, Phase 3 Buntsford Park Road.

Jeremy Grimshaw, owner and founder of the ten-year-old business, said they needed room for expansion and snapped at the opportunity.

“We had outgrown our previous premises and it was time to move,” said Mr Grimshaw. “Truslove's were extremely pro-active and it was all sorted out very quickly.”

The firm concentrates purely on sheds and summer houses, both residential and commercial – from the traditional garden shed through to high security metal ones.

Jade Sheds makes them itself rather than buying them in.

“The extra demand is mostly via word of mouth introductions,” said Mr Grimshaw. “We are passionate about sheds and people know that our products are of excellent quality. High levels of craftsmanship and a caring attitude are crucial and these are things which are often lost in larger organisations.”

The workforce at the SME is now set to rise from three to eight including taking on an apprentice.

Mr Truslove said: “Jade Sheds are typical of the sort of owner-managed businesses which see the potential for growth now that the recovery is well under way.”

He added: “It has been an extremely busy start to the New Year and bodes well for both ourselves and the wider Redditch/Bromsgrove economy.

“Jade Sheds are creating jobs as are many other small and medium sized firms – it is very encouraging.”
