STOURBRIDGE rockers The Arcadian Kicks are heading back to home turf to warm up for a big summer gig.

The band will be hitting the stage at Katie Fitzgerald’s, Enville Street, next week before playing the Isle of Wight festival on Saturday June 12.

The show, which will be their first Stourbridge gig for a year, will kick start a busy summer for the five-piece in the run up to the release of their debut single, 19 Days, which will be out in August on One Beat Records via EMI.

Guitarist Tom Holloway said: “Its’ going at 100 miles an hour at the moment, the single will be out on vinyl as well as on download.

“Things are good, we are playing in different cities and having a good time, we have progressed naturally and people have started to get involved because they like the way the band has developed.”

The people Tom talks about include legendary Blondie producer Mike Chapman, who has just finished working on The Arcadian Kicks’ first album which he says is among the best work he has done.

DJ Steve Lamacq is also a fan while the demo version of 19 days scooped record of the week from Bob Harris on BBC Radio Two last year.

Radio One are also known to be keeping a close eye on the band, as are several major record labels, although Tom believes there is no rush to do any deals.

He said: “For the last year we have had people hanging around from major labels but we are not going to sign a deal unless it is right for us, we are in the driving seat.”

Catch The Arcadian Kicks with support from The Pargeters and Neon Rise at Katie Fitzgerald’s on Wednesday June 9.
