KEEPING up their seasonal tradition, The Pogues will be stopping off at Birmingham Academy this weekend as part of their annual Christmas tour.
As much a part of Christmas as turkey and stuffing, the band - who sang classic Christmas number Fairytale of New York with the late Kirsty MacColl - will be bringing their unique mix of traditional Irish folk, punk and classic songwriting to the Dale End music venue on Sunday December 16.
Special guests The Holloways will be joining bandmates Shane McGowan, Philip Chevron, Jem Finer, Darryl Hunt, Spider Stacy, Andrew Ranken, Terry Woods and James Fearnley on their fifth annual Christmas tour, which kicked off on Tuesday in Glasgow and winds up at Brixton Academy next Wednesday (December 19).
The tour marks the end of a busy year for the band - who originally formed back in 1982. During 2007 they have toured Japan and America, Spider Stacey married his partner of years and Shane MacGowan performed on stage with Pete Doherty and Jarvis Cocker at Meltdown.
Tickets for their Christmas outing cost £28.50 and are available on 0870 771 2000 or online from www.gigsandtours.com
