Godsize to release album

AFTER eight long years Stourbridge sludge metal band Godsize are finally set to release their first official album.

The popular four-piece, who are signed to independent metal label Meltdown Records, are releasing their debut album Hymns for the Fallen on Monday March 3 - more than two years after putting out their single Rock n' Roll Machine.

It will be available in all good record stores up and down the country - and to celebrate, the band will be holding a launch party at Stourbridge's Rock Cafe 2000, Mill Race Lane, on Tuesday February 26.

Lead singer Kris Chambers said: "The Rock Café was certainly an easy decision for the album release as this is where we played our first ever gig, it only seems fit to have our release party there."

The band, also comprising Scott Cooper from Stourbridge (guitar), Dave Day from Brownhills (bass) and Kieron Rose from Halesowen (drums), have in the past played with rock legends - Anthrax, Dragonforce and Orange Goblin and in 2006 were voted Unsigned Band of the Year by the readers of Terrorizer magazine.

The launch party will feature support from Stourbridge metal act Deadweight, and will see both band's albums on sale.

Doors open at 7.30pm and Deadweight will be on at around 9.15pm, with Godsize taking to the stage at around 10pm.

Tickets are £3 on the door.
