THE Stourbridge Branch of the RNLI is looking forward to its fundraising Lifeboat Dinner this Friday (April 11) featuring distinguished speaker Admiral Lord Boyce.
Being held at The Granary Hotel and Restaurant, Shenstone, near Kidderminster, at 7.30pm, the event will help pull in the pounds to continue to help save lives at sea.
Chairman of RNLI Stourbridge branch, Chris Fonteyn, said: "Admiral Lord Boyce has had a distinguished military career.
"We are delighted this prominent public figure and celebrity speaker is able to join us.
"It should be a very enjoyable evening - it's an excellent opportunity for friends to get together or maybe for businesses to entertain guests."
Admiral Lord Boyce has served in and commanded several of HM submarines, and when he was appointed Commander in Chief, Naval Home Command, in 1995, HMS Victory was his flagship.
He served as First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff from 1998 until 2001, and in 2001 he became Chief of the Defence Staff and Aide-de-Camp to HM the Queen.
He retired in 2003 and was elevated to the peerage that year and was appointed Lord Warden and Admiral of the Cinque Ports in 2004.
Tickets for the charity dinner cost £23 and are available from Chris Fonteyn on 01384 376865 and Sue Coombes on 01384 896798.
