DVD - Black Sheep (15)
YOU should avoid watching this comedy horror film during dinner time, supper time, or indeed any time when there's a chance the food you've just eaten could be persuaded to make a reappearance.
There are some truly revolting scenes which completely turned my stomach.
I know there's plenty of gore to be found in other similar films such as Shaun of the Dead, but at least in that the gore is interspersed with some excellent comedy moments. There is no such relief in Black Sheep.
A man with a sheep phobia returns to the farm he grew up on to discover his power-hungry brother is involved with some very dodgy dealings (much like one might find in the land of Emmerdale).
He also discovers that some mad scientists working for his brother have gone a step too far while attempting to genetically modify sheep.
The result is a breed of crazed, bloody thristy animals who go about biting humans who then turn into some sort of slavering werewolf/sheep type creatures.
Although the mutant sheep idea may be slightly original, nothing else in this New Zealand film is and I doubt people will be flocking to buy it.
