JUST when gig-goers thought it was safe to go back to a venue the mayhem of Pop Will Eat Itself has returned.

During the late 80s The Poppies blazed a trail into the national charts with an amalgamation of rap and indie guitar music christened Grebo' by the national music press.

After a massively successful reunion in January 2005, three former Poppies have taken to the road under the new name Vileevils.

Founder Poppies guitarist Adman and vocalist Crabbi have teamed up with drummer Fuzz Townsend, who played with the grebo gurus at the peak of their powers.

Vileevils, whose line-up is completed by Matt K on bass and Luke Mole on guitar, are touring with the full blessing of PWEI members Clint Mansell and Rich March.

Adman said: "It's all a bit weird after all these years, the reviews have been great and the response from the crowds has been really good, we have been going for it."

Vileevils play mostly new songs with the occasional inclusion of a PWEI tune, from a catalogue of material written during rehearsals for the 2005 tour.

Adman said: "Me, Crabbi and Fuzz were writing while Clint and Rich were busy with other things, there was talk of record deals and it got to a stage where there were contracts on the table.

"Clint and Rich couldn't dedicate the time although we do a track called Demon which features a vocal sample from Clint."

The band a planning a single release in the spring with an album to follow and demos can be heard at pweination.co.uk or via links to the Vileevils my space web site.

Vileevils are also set to play a gig at Wolverhampton Civic Bar on Saturday December 16.
