A STOURBRIDGE studio is getting set to host an internet event which aims to give new bands a boost.
The Base Studio is launching live web casts to give artists from the region a chance to showcase their skills to a world-wide audience.
The rehearsal and recording complex in Rufford Road is kicking off the pioneering project on Friday February 8 with sets from three top artists.
The diverse line up for the first event features Midlands rockers Raw, soul artist Marika, who appeared in the Channel Four series Chancers, and multi-cultural performer Khaliq who mixes eastern and western styles.
Studio owner Warren Evans says the event is a ground breaking new way for artists to impress music industry bosses without spending large sums on travelling to cities like London to play showcase gigs for small crowds in the hope of getting noticed.
Warren said: "This is really exciting, we need to promote bands from the area and it's a shame there are not many places to play.
"We have been working on this project for two months and everything is now in place, we are looking to do this once a month."
The first Base webcast will run from 8pm to 10pm, to see the show, which will be performed live at the studio, log on to www.basestudios1.co.uk
