A KINGSWINFORD based concert band is hosting its summer concert in Stourbridge early next month.
The BJ Concert Band, led by the vastly experienced conductor Bobby Johnson, will be performing at the Elmfield School, in Love Lane on Wednesday July 1.
Bobby, who is also a renown trombonist, has been conducting bands in the area for about 65 years, being widely remembered for leading the resident band at the Tower Ballrooms, in Edgbaston, for 17 years.
He also formed the BJ Youth Sound – a Stourbridge-based young person’s swing band – in 1978.
His current band of enthusiastic amateurs will perform a range of popular tunes from artists including Queen and Elton John as well as great show tunes from musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera.
Tickets do not need to be booked, but donations will be taken at the door.
