WEST Country rockers Reef proved they'd still got something to say when they took to the stage at the Robin 2 at Bilston.

With new guitarist Jesse Wood replacing original member Kenwyn House who left last year to pursue other projects, the band went down a storm when they performed at the intimate Mount Pleasant music venue on September 26.

Enigmatic frontman Gary Stringer, Jack Bessant (bass) and Dominic Greensmith (drums) packed out the popular club which was heaving with love for the former chart outfit who are still a huge favourite at summer surf festivals.

They belted out the best of their biggest hits including the legendary Place Your Hands - the high point of any Reef gig. Old favourites I Got Something to Say, Yer Old and the iconic rock number that made them famous - Naked - were all there too.

There were plenty of fine old album tracks omitted but having devoted to the last 18 months to writing new material, the band were keen to showcase some of their lively new tunes during the hour-and-a-half long set - and they didn't disappoint.

Long-haired lead singer Gary, now 42, had lost none of his easy going charm and energy - or the distinctive gravelly vocals which could and should have earned him super star status.

He had the crowd completely under his spell throughout the gig and was generous enough to lurk around for ages, posing for selfie after selfie with eager fans who had queued at the stage door after the show.
