A STOURBRIDGE musical charity group is to perform a concert celebrating the world famous Midlands composer Edward Elgar.
Gig Caritas’ ‘Elgar’ gig will star international cellist Irena Josifoska, who is flying in from Germany to play the stunning Cello Concerto, arguably one of the composer’s most famous works.
After starting to play the cello at the age of five, Irena has won around 45 of the highest awards in national and international competitions both as a soloist and with her string quartet.
She released her first two CDs in 2014 as well as attending master classes with a large number of famous cellists and professors.
Featured works to be performed at the event, taking place on Saturday (November 21) at St John’s United Reform Church, in St John’s Road, include Enigma Variations, Pomp and Circumstance.
Money raised at the concert will be donated to the Stourbridge and Halesowen Age Concern group.
Tickets cost £10 and available from www.gigcaritas.com
