A FRIGHTENINGLY ambitious new music video, shot in Stourbridge, has been released just in time for Halloween.

Earlier this month - the filming of the new video for The Humdrum Express’s new single E-Petition left unsuspecting shoppers wondering if the zombie apocalypse had begun.

Inspired by George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead - the video, directed, filmed and edited by musician/music video maestro Nick J Townsend, saw more than 60 actors made up as monstrous looking creatures stumbling through the town centre streets and clawing at the offices of the Stourbridge, Halesowen and Dudley News on Sunday October 15.

Scenes were also filmed inside Claptrap music venue in the High Street for the video which brings to life the new cheery ditty from The Humdrum Express - the musical vehicle of Kidderminster based singer/songwriter Ian Passey.

Stourbridge News:

Ian, who already has 13 albums and EPs under his belt, told the News: “I’d personally like to thank Sean, Sarah and all the staff at Claptrap the Venue for their warm hospitality.

"Thanks also to our magnificent face-painting team, our wonderful zombies and the good people of Stourbridge for taking our antics in the spirit intended.

“The video pays tribute to George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, with a tongue in cheek look at smart-phone culture. The song itself documents some of the quirks of modern life."

The catchy single has already received national airplay, last week on BBC 6music, and music video director Nick J Townsend, who has created more than 30 videos for national and international artists, believes “The Humdrum Express is really going places”.

Ian can be seen supporting Mark Morriss, frontman of The Bluetones, at Katie Fitzgerald’s on Friday November 10.
