CLASSICAL music buffs are set for a treat later this month when locally acclaimed Gig Caritas stage a 1918 memorial concert in aid of the Mayor of Dudley's charities.

The concert takes place at Dudley Concert Hall on Saturday March 24 when the highlight will be Karl Jenkins' hugely popular 'Armed Man' performed by the Restoration Chorus and Stourbridge Chamber Orchestra which will also feature special guest soprano Louise Maguire.

There will also be a series of pieces performed - with peace as their theme.

They include Holst' Mars and Venus plus The Planets, Faure's Pie Jesu and Requiem, Tippett's StealAway and Child of Our Time, together with Haydn's Dona Nobis Pacem and Nelson Mass.

In addition, Third From The Right production company will be providing a number of readings.

In total there will be around 130 performers taking part.

Money raised will help give a boost to Dudley Mind, the YMCA and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society - which are the charities being supported by Dudley's Mayor - Councillor Dave Tyler.
