Dalek impersonator in BGT glory bid

It is more like Britain's Got Tardis when Dalek impersonator Martyn Crofts bids to impress Simon Cowell and the rest of the judging panel.

The building society worker from Skipton in North Yorkshire auditions on the ITV1 talent show armed only with a saucepan and what he says is his "absolutely unique" act.

Little Britain star David Walliams is impressed with at least one part of his performance, telling Crofts: "For me the star of the show was the saucepan, it's obviously a good one, non-stick."

Other acts bidding to impress the panel, which also includes Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, include a contortionist, two drag queens and a Michael Jackson impersonator.

The show gets off to a chilly start for the audience and the judges when they brave the rain to head outside to see the first act - a team of synchronised swimmers who jump head first into an outside pool which Cowell likens to a "human aquarium".

Walliams tells the four girls: "You need such strength to do that, but you also need real grace and beauty and you girls have got both, I was completely blown away."
