QUENTIN Tarantino’s masterpiece Pulp Fiction will be screened in Birmingham this weekend after being named the city’s favourite 1990s film.

The cult classic is being shown on Friday at Birmingham City University’s Auditorium (The Giant Screen at Millennium Point before it closed) after the public voted from nominees made up of the highest grossing, multi-award-winning and most culturally significant films of the last great decade of filmmaking.

The Giant Screen is now a lecture theatre since closing last year but will host of a film screening for the first time in nearly 18 months to start Inspired Festival which will feature a series of events across the university’s campuses.

The festival, which runs from June 11 to 26, showcases the talent of the University’s final year students in disciplines such as film, art, architecture and photography.

Tickets for the opening event are priced at £4 and include a meal, drink and bag of popcorn and can be booked at www.bcu.ac.uk/90s-film.

Samantha Thodhlana, Birmingham City University’s project manager for Inspired Festival, said: “After two weeks and a closely fought vote, Pulp Fiction has been named as Birmingham’s favourite 90s film.

“It is fitting that such an iconic and inventive film has been chosen, given that its screening will make the start a festival which is all about creativity and innovation.
