Sony were planning to release a film called The Interview, a Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy about an attempt to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Earlier in the year, North Korea threatened a “merciless counter-measure” if the film was released.
Last month, Sony was hacked.
Now, according to widespread reports, Sony has decided it’s not releasing the movie next week – it was due to be out on Christmas Day in America – after all.
In a statement widely quoted online, the company said the decision was made because a number of cinema chains had decided they would not show the film.
Predictably, people online thought this was a bad decision.
More than that, though, they thought it was a good opportunity for lolz.
We think this guy’s got the right idea though. Maybe the North Korean leader is taking requests…
