With Top Gear off the TV and his next career move uncertain, James May has set up his own YouTube channel.
But it’s not all car reviews, test drives and lap times.
Rather the BBC presenter is showing off a different talent – playing Greensleeves on a recorder.
James posted a video of his sombre performance on his newly created ‘JM unemployment tube’ channel.
It follows on from James posting a series of tweets about how he was filling his time since he’s not had a job.
Never one to be overly serious James pokes fun at his career dilemma. He called the video “Greensleeves with a hangover” and added in a note: “Performed by the jobless James May ‘pon the descant recorder.”
The jokey video was a hit with viewers with one watcher writing on the website that it is the “best Youtube channel in the world”, while others responded on Twitter.
The 52-year-old’s career hangs in the balance after co Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson was sacked by the BBC for punching a producer.
May and his co-host Richard Hammond, 45, have not announced if they will stay with the show or not, but have heavily hinted that they will follow Clarkson out of the BBC.
Asked earlier in the week if he will continue on Top Gear, James said the trio came “as a package” and his future requires “a lot of careful thought”, but it seems this recorder lark could be the next big thing…
And there’s always this…
