Alesha Dixon has admitted there have been a lot of dogs on the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent – but that’s because the audience loves them so much.

The ITV talent show was won by dancing dog Pudsey in 2012 and so far this year has seen acts including Wendy the talking dog, Princess the Hypno Dog, Cally the balloon bursting dog, and Max the Yorkshire terrier who took a dislike to co-host Ant.

Judge Alesha said: “We’re a nation that loves dogs, and this year it was only once the show started going out that I realised how many dog acts we had. But they’ve all been fantastic.

“The dog that was chasing Ant was one of my highlights, and on the day that went on even longer than what they showed on the TV, it was the funniest moment. Probably the first thing to not like Ant – everybody likes Ant, what was the dog’s problem?”

Some animal rights organisations voiced their concerns about ventriloquist Marc Metral’s act with his “talking” dog Wendy.

Alesha said: “I thought Wendy the dog was a really interesting act, and at the time I thought, ‘Wow, how’s he doing it?’ And my mum figured it out straight away, as soon as the show went out she went, ‘I know how he’s doing it.’

“But I think a lot of us we don’t like to know, because we don’t want to kill the magic. I don’t like to find out because I think it ruins it.

“We always make sure that animals are looked after on the show, so that wouldn’t be a worry of mine.”

The 36-year-old singer is releasing new single The Way We Are on June 21, her first since 2011.

Alesha is also fronting First Choice’s Summer of Music 2015 and as part of the campaign, she is creating the UK’s first fan-curated music video.

The former Misteeq star has shot three different endings to her music video and fans can vote for the their favourite at www.firstchoice.co.uk/music.

Alesha said: “We want people to get involved and pick me a good ending please.

“We made sure all three endings were really, really good, so whatever the fans choose, it’s fine by us.”
