Sir David Attenborough’s dulcet tones have become a staple for many of our Sunday nights as we fast approach the fifth episode of Planet Earth II.

So far we’ve witnessed island sloths, snow leopards in the mountains, ninja frogs in the jungles and biblical swarms of desert locusts. Now, Sir David is bringing the grasslands to life for us.

It’s the penultimate episode of the series, so make sure you savour every moment of the TV show that’s set to be 2016′s second biggest hit.

Saiga antelopes can be found in the grasslands of Kazakhstan, and their lives are riddled with dangers. This baby is only three hours old and must be left hidden in the grass by its mother until it can walk.

2. Lions

It doesn’t get more majestic than a lion, right? This male lion in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, is scarred from battles with the Cape Buffalo, which are five times his size. Yikes.

Here’s a closer look at the vicious tussles on the flooded swamps between lions and buffalo.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that there’s only a whopping great elephant in this picture. If you look closely, you’ll also be able to spot the carmine bee-eaters following him around, hoping to catch the insects the elephant kicks up. How resourceful.

4. Foxes

Just because it’s a grasslands episode doesn’t mean there won’t be a huge amount of variety in the show. Here, a red fox hunts for voles beneath thick snow in Yellowstone National Park, USA.

5. Bison

More snowy climes bring this young bison, which is covered in frost when temperatures drop to minus 40C in mid-winter in Yellowstone National Park.
