THE visual spectacle Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is coming to Wolverhampton.

Joe McElderry, who won The X Factor winner in 2009, is taking on the colourful leading role in the family musical which retells the Biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colours.

The dreamcoat is a "work of art in itself", according to the South Shields singer, who added: "I enjoy wearing it but it's quite big and very long so I'm always panicking, thinking I'm going to go flying down the stairs if I tread on it!"

The magical show will be narrated by Britain's Got Talent opera soprano Lucy Kay, who said she was "loving" her latest gig, adding: "I'm really enjoying being on stage, feels very comfortable to be there."

She opens the show with Some Folks Dream and other unforgettable songs throughout including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door To Me.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will run at the Grand Theatre until Saturday (May 21).
