AFTER being banned from more comedy clubs than any other, one of the country's most popular comedians is bringing his unique brand of stand up to Stourbridge.

For the last three decades Ian Cognito has been an undecorated hero of the British comedy frontline – and one of the few to never appear on the telly.

But he will be entertaining the Stourbridge crowds as the headline act at the ever-popular Fitz of Laughter Comedy Club when it returns to Katie Fitzgerald’s on Friday (January 6).

Tales of power drills, genital exposure and traumatised promoters follow in Cognito’s wake as does the hysterical laughter of those who have been lucky enough to see him perform.

Cognito will be supported at the club, which runs on the first Friday of every month in the marquee at the Enville Street venue, by Brummie Lovdev Barpaga, and cheeky comic Joe Bromehead.

Promoter Wayne Beese, who also hosts the show, said: “Ian Cognito is quite simply one of the finest comics in the UK and has been for quite some time.

“He has this reputation that goes around with him. He's not crude, offensive or racist. But by the same token he is not afraid to say what he thinks in the most forceful of ways.

“Most importantly, forgetting about all that, he is very, very funny.

“This is not to be missed.”

Tickets for the show, which sees doors opening at 8pm, cost £10 and are available, with no booking fee, online at www.skiddle.com/e/12855624 or by calling Wayne on 07759 543750.
