Drivers of private hire vehicles in Dudley borough have been warned to display their roof signs at all times.
The council's taxis committee sent the reminder out after 16 drivers were hauled before the committee on Tuesday and given a final warning for not displaying a sign.
Councillor Doreen Ameson, chair of the taxis committee, said: "It is very important for safety reasons that all private hire vehicle drivers obey these simple rules.
"This is the most visible way for the public to know for sure that they are getting into a properly licensed and legal private hire vehicle."
According to the council's policy all private hire vehicles must display the roof sign approved by the council. The sign should display the name and telephone number of the company, include the words Private Hire Office Bookings Only' and be customised by the council with the vehicle registration number and private hire plate number.
THE leader of Dudley Council claims town residents have been given a “smack in the teeth” after a planning inspector granted permission for the £18 million mosque and community training and enterprise centre.
