Former borough 'superhead' accused of professional misconduct

A FORMER borough 'superhead' is facing a misconduct hearing over allegations she knew staff were fiddling school registers.
A hearing by the professional conduct panel of the Teaching Agency against Dame Maureen Brennan, Linda Westwood and Shelley Patricia Derham began on November 12.
The hearing will consider allegations staff at Hillcrest School in Netherton were told by Ms Derham and Ms Westwood to alter registers and Dame Mo, who was honoured for transforming the failing school, knew what was going on.
Dame Mo was in charge at the Simms Lane School between 2000 and 2007, the alleged offences came to light during an audit.
It is alleged the registers were altered to create a more favourable perception of the school.
An investigation by West Midlands Police into allegations of fraud in connection with the case found there was insufficient evidence for criminal charges.
All three women deny professional misconduct, the hearing is expected to continue until early December.
