A 41-YEAR-old fence builder died after being stung by a wasp an inquest has heard.

Raymond Ross, of Mayfield Road, Dudley died in Russells Hall Hospital on June 10 after being stung by the insect at his home.

He was admitted to A&E by ambulance at 10.05pm after collapsing. His face was beginning to swell and he was also struggling with shortness of breath.

Mr Ross, who had often been bitten by insects during his former employment as a landscape gardener, was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

Following a post mortem, pathologists discovered high levels of mast cell tryptase in his system, consistent with an anaphylactic reaction.

Black Country Coroner, Robin Balmain recorded a narrative verdict at Dudley Coroner’s Court due to an adverse reaction to an insect bite.
