DUDLEY’S White House Cancer Support has benefited from the fundraising efforts of a Brierley Hill man who has raised £1,058 in memory of his late wife.

Surjeet Kaur Bedi died in 2008,following a year-and-a-half battle with breast cancer.

Every year since her death, her husband Gurcharan Singh Bedi and his family have organised a variety of fundraising activities to raise money in her honour.

This year Mr Bedi organised a grand raffle in aid of the Ednam Road centre, where his wife received support during her illness.

The winning tickets were drawn at The White House by Andrea Pope-Smith, Director of Adult Services, Communities and Housing at Dudley Council, as well as Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Housing, Libraries and Adult Learning.

Chris Barron, manager of The White House, said: “The money Mr Bedi has raised will go to help cancer patients and their families within the Dudley borough.”
