THREE catering businesses are celebrating after being awarded five stars in the borough’s food hygiene ratings.
Lunch on the Run, based in Pensnett Trading Estate has increased its previous four star rating to the ‘excellent’ rating by Dudley Council’s Environmental Health Officers, for the first time after , while its sister company The Retreat Community Cafe, run from St Francis Parish Centre in Poplar Crescent, Dudley was re-awarded the top scores for levels of hygiene and food safety, including food handling and temperature control, as well as cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and washing facilities.
Paul Jaunzems, Chief executive, of Lunch on the Run, which provides training for people with learning disabilities, said: “I am doubly proud that staff at Lunch on the Run and The Retreat have achieved an improvement in what has been a difficult year.”
Meanwhile Nemo’s fish and chip shop Lower Gornal, was also presented with five stars for the third year running for maintaining top standards at its Lake Street premises.
Mrs Johal, owner of the takeaway, said: “We are very proud to be presented with five stars again.”
