Fined for overloaded car

A 43 YEAR-old Lower Gornal man has been ordered to pay a total of £280 by Dudley Magistrates after he was caught carrying eight people in a five person car.

Appearing in court on January 14, Ambrose Davies, of Smithy Lane, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £20 costs and £80 costs, as well as being handed three licence penalty points, for allowing three adults in the rear of the vehicle, who were also not wearing seatbelts, to each carry a child on their laps.

Davies, who was driving a four-door Ford Fiesta hatchback, was spotted on Pensnett High Street on October 27 2012.

He was also fined £40 for allowing a child passenger to not wear a seatbelt.

The defendant was fined a further £40 for allowing a child under three years-old to also not be securely fastened in the vehicle with a seatbelt.

 

Also in court on January 14:

Ian Keith Banks, aged 46, of Newland Grove, Holly Hall, was fined £110, ordered to pay £20 costs and £85 court costs, as well as being disqualified from driving for 12 months, for driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

The defendant was also fined £73 for damaging a give way sign.

Dale Martin Mansell, aged 31, of Priory Road, Dudley, was ordered to pay £5.99 compensation for stealing a Lynx male gift set from Co-op Pharmacy in Wrens Nest.

David Price, aged 24, of Dudley Street, Sedgley, was fined £150 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £150 court costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.

Rahim Rashid Choudhary, aged 31, of Stourbridge Road, Dudley, was fined £110 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £80 court costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance. The defendant was also fined £75 for wilfully obstruction a police officer.

Aaron Craker, aged 23, of Marlow Close, Netherton, was fined £35 for driving a vehicle he was not licenced to drive.

The defendant was also fined £110 and ordered to pay £20 costs and £80 costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.

Lee Joseph Pritchard, aged 19, of Gloucester Road, Netherton, was fined £75 for driving without due care and attention.

The defendant was also fined £35 for driving a vehicle he was not licenced to drive.

He was also fined £110 and ordered to pay £20 costs and £80 costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.

Amanda Booth, aged 33, of Hollis Street, Pensnett, was handed an 18 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 costs and £50 court costs, for possessing cannabis.

 

In court on January 16:

George James Connell Gill, aged 21, of New Street, Dudley, was handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £60 costs and £85 court costs, for stealing 10 bars of Cadburys chocolate, worth £19.90 from Co-op.

The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £46 compensation, for stealing three packs of lamb from Asda.

Ian Mark Morgan, aged 40, of Spring Road, Netherton, was fined £150 and ordered to pay £20 costs and £85 court costs, for possessing cannabis.

Cavell Michael Jarrett, aged 25, of Vernon Crescent, Dudley, was handed a community order and ordered to pay £60 costs and £85 court costs, for possessing a lock knife in a public place.

 

In court on January 17:

Anthony Storey, aged 55, of Birbeck Place, Pensnett, was handed a 12 month conditional discharge and a 12 month restraining order, as well as being ordered to pay £100 compensation, £15 costs and £50 court costs, for damaging a window of a wooden front door.

 

In court on January 18:

Sarah Wentworth, aged 24, of Heath Road, Saltwells, was handed a 12 month community order and ordered to pay £100 court costs, for failing to notify a change of circumstance with regard to Income Support.

The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order, for failing to notify a change of circumstance with regard to housing benefit.

Luke David Hinton, aged 25, of Tennyson Street, Pensnett, was handed a 24 month conditional discharge for stealing four bottles of whisky, worth £59.96 from Aldi.
