11:14am Thursday 7th February 2013 in News
DUDLEY’S HMV store is continuing to fight off the threat of closure.
Administrators Deloitte have today confirmed 66 of HMV Group’s 220 UK stores are to close but the music and DVD outlet at Merry Hill shopping centre is not on the list.
The affected stores, which employ 930 staff, are expected to close over the next one to two months but will continue to trade in the meantime.
Nick Edwards, Joint Administrator, said: “This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern.
“We continue to receive strong support from staff and are extremely grateful to them for their commitment during an understandably difficult period. All other key stakeholders remain very supportive and I continue to be hopeful of securing a future for the restructured business.”
