MP congratulates McDonald's apprentices
10:01am Friday 15th February 2013 in News
DUDLEY North MP Ian Austin has presented certificates to 15 Upper Gornal apprentices.
The MP was on hand to congratulate staff at McDonald’s in Kent Street, who have gained their apprenticeship, which is equivalent to five GCSEs, as part of the fast-food chain’s in-house scheme, which provides skills in customer service, teamwork and communication.
Ian Austin MP said: “I learnt loads as a teenager working at McDonald’s in Dudley High Street and I was delighted to visit the Kent Street restaurant. I want to see every youngster in Dudley in full-time education or proper training and I want to see more young people doing apprenticeships.”
Franchisee, Diane Ash said: “I believe it’s important for more businesses to invest in such training opportunities. Giving people the chance to learn and earn means I can attract the very best people. The skills that staff develop on the Apprenticeship Programme can help increase their enthusiasm, confidence and professional attitude which is good for them, good for business and good for our customers too.”
