A KINDHEARTED Netherton couple have raised more than £800 for the British Heart Foundation to mark their 30th wedding anniversary.
Steve and Steph Turton threw a party at the Lamp Tavern in Dudley on February 9, to mark their marriage milestone on February 12, as well as celebrating Steph’s 50th birthday the day after on February 13 and asked for donations in lieu of gifts – with £825 raised so far.
Steve Turton, aged 52, who is company director of S T Lifting in Netherton, said: “We chose British Heart Foundation for a few reasons. Steph's Mom has had a couple of pacemakers fitted over the last 30 years, one of our employees at S T Lifting had heart problems last year and is still in recuperation and 18 months ago, one of our closest friends died from cardiomyopathy, at the young age of 51, so we believe that it deserves whatever help we could give them.”
Five years ago the couple raised over £2,000 for Cancer Research during their silver wedding anniversary celebrations.
