New artwork unveiled at Dudley park
9:00am Sunday 24th February 2013 in News
TWO new stone carvings have been installed in Dudley’s Priory Park as part of a £2.6m redevelopment programme.
The art work has been placed near the ruins and represent the park’s medieval origins.
One has been carved into the shape of a closed prayer book, while the other is the seal of Gervase Paganell who founded the Priory and form the latest part of the Heritage Lottery funded programme of improvements.
They have both been made by Birmingham-based artist, Michael Scheuermann and are purposely low in height so not to interrupt the view of the historic ruins.
Councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “These beautiful stone carvings add a point of interest for anyone visiting the park and I’m sure they are something that will be enjoyed by many generations to come.”
