Public consultation launched on Castle Hill regeneration plans

BOROUGH residents can have their say over the multi-million pound redevelopment plans of Castle Hill.

A planning application for a single visitor entrance for the town’s three major tourist attractions was submitted in January, but the borough’s regeneration bosses want to hear what people think of the scheme during a month-long consultation.

Dudley Council staff will be at Dudley Zoo, the Black Country Living Museum and Dudley Canal Trust today (Wednesday), tomorrow and Friday from 10am until 4pm, as well as 10am until 2pm on Saturday to hand out copies of the consultation leaflet to visitors.

Councillor Shaukat Ali, cabinet member for regeneration, said:“The proposals to redevelop Castle Hill are vital to Dudley and to the borough as they will bring new jobs, stimulate tourism and bring more visitors into the area.

“The three visitor attractions on Castle Hill all offer a distinct day out and what we as the council and the visitor attractions want to do is redevelop Castle Hill into a regional leisure and cultural destination that will collectively offer even more than it already does.

“The redevelopment of Castle Hill offers a fantastic opportunity and I hope many people take part in this exciting consultation.” The plans for the Castle Hill redevelopment also include a new access road off Tipton Road and a shared 600 space car park.

Consultation leaflets and questionnaires can also be collected from Dudley Council Plus or Dudley Library.

They can also be viewed and completed online at dudley.gov.uk/business/regeneration until March 29.
