Police discover suspected cannabis factory at Dudley home
4:30pm Thursday 28th February 2013 in News
POLICE officers carrying out a warrant into alleged animal cruelty at a Dudley house also discovered a suspected cannabis factory.
Police attended an address in The Broadway with the RSPCA to help remove six dogs but also found around 30 suspected cannabis plants and associated equipment.
A samurai sword, a knuckle duster and a gas powered firearm were also removed from the property during the incident yesterday morning (Wednesday).
A 31 year-old man was arrested and bailed pending further investigations.
Pc Ian Priest, from Dudley Police, said: "We had been given information from the community that animal cruelty may have been taking place at the address. "However when we arrived we were surprised to find a suspected cannabis growing setup and dozens of plants.
"This is a great example of police acting on intelligence provided by members of the public and taking action. We would encourage residents across our communities to come forward and let us know when they become aware of any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods."
Anyone who suspects any suspicious activity in their community should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
