Dudley driver found guilty of road rage attack

A DUDLEY driver who hit another motorist with a metal steering lock in a road rage attack has been warned he could be spending time behind bars.

Mohammed Yousaf hit Luke Guy twice with the anti-theft device twice as the victim's girlfriend screamed for him to stop, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

The jury heard the brutal attack only came to a halt when Mr Guy's pregnant partner threw herself across him to protect him from further blows.

Yousaf of Dudley Road had denied assault causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon but he was convicted on both charges.

The jury returned majority verdicts against the father-of-one after retiring for over six hours to consider the evidence at the end of his three day trial.

Recorder Adam Feest told Yousaf they were extremely serious offences and added: "Anyone who commits a road rage attack and arms themselves with a weapon as you did can expect to go to prison."

He remanded Yousaf on conditional bail until March 21 for a pre-sentence report.

The trial had been told Mr Guy and his girlfriend Terri Winder had been travelling along Hall Street, Dudley when a black Vauxhall driven by Yousaf pulled in front of their vehicle.

Mr Guy had to brake sharply to avoid a collision and sounded his horn . The Vauxhall moved on a little before braking and Yousaf got out carrying the metal lock, he opened the door of Mr Guy's vehicle and hit him over the head and on the body.

Miss Winder called an ambulance and noted the registration of Yousaf's vehicle Mr Guy was taken to hospital where he was treated for an injury to an eye and bruising to his body.

In defence Yousaf maintained it was Mr Guy who was the aggressor in the incident and he had tried to drag him from his vehicle.
