£18K fine for clothing con

A 53 YEAR-old Dudley man has been ordered to pay a total of £18,215 by magistrates for selling counterfeit clothing.

Appearing in Dudley Magistrates Court on February 26, Trevor Hopkins, of Edenbridge View, who traded as The Jeans Man, was fined £2,500 and ordered to pay £15 costs and £3,200 costs, for selling 23 hooded tops, two jackets, four tracksuits and five t-shirts, all bearing false Adidas symbols.
 

The defendant was also fined £2,500 for selling five jackets, 29 hooded tops and five t-shirts, all bearing false Paul's Boutique symbols.
 

He was also fined £2,500 for selling six t-shirts and two hooded tops, bearing false Henleys symbols.

The defendant was also fined £2,500 for selling seven t-shirts, bearing false Lyle and Scott symbols.
 

He was also fined £2,500 for selling four hooded tops, bearing McKenzie symbols.
 

The defendant was also fined £2,500 for possessing 21 hooded tops, four pairs of trousers, one coat, four tracksuit tops, four tracksuit bottoms, five tops and five jackets, all bearing false Adidas symbols.

Also in court on February 26:

Mixhalakis Mixaha, aged 24, of Queens Cross, Dudley, was fined £600 and ordered to pay £60 and £80 court costs, as well as being handed six licence penalty points, for driving without insurance.


In court on February 25:

Jodie Cooper, aged 22, of Darby End Road, Netherton, was fined £110 and ordered to pay £20 costs and £85 court costs, as well as being disqualified from driving for 20 months, for driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

Mark Andrew Rollason, aged 27, of Quarry Brow, Upper Gornal, was fined £75 and ordered to pay £25.52 and £15 costs, as well as being ordered to pay £85 court costs, for stealing 12 packets of cheese from Spar.


In court on February 27:

Timothy Paul Dovey, aged 27, of Vale Road, Netherton, was jailed for 14 days concurrent, for failing to return to HMP Sudbury after being temporarily released from prison on February 16.

Michael Charles McDermott, aged 44, of Overfield Road, Russells Hall, was handed a six month community order, as well as being ordered to pay £60 costs and £85 court costs, for stealing chocolate and toiletries from Poundland.

Robert Pardoe, aged 38, of Pedmore Road, Brierley Hill, was fined £75 and ordered to pay £20 costs and £85 court costs, for possessing a class A drug.
The defendant was also fined £35 for possessing a class B drug.

In court on February 28:

Andrew Richard Guest, aged 33, of Old Park Road, Dudley, was handed a six month community order and ordered to pay £60 costs and £125 court costs, for dishonestly undertaking or assisting in the retention, removal or disposal of stolen goods, namely a Bosch Hammer Drill, a Silverline Circular Saw, a Silverline cordless drill , to the value of approximately £540.
The defendant was also handed a six month community order for attempting to sell a silverline cordless drill to Cash Convertors.

In court on March 1:

Emma Cownley, aged 39, of Yew Tree Hills, Dudley, was handed a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 court costs, for failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions about a change of circumstance which would affect housing and council tax entitlement.
 

The defendant was also handed a two year conditional discharge for failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions about a change of circumstance which would affect income support entitlement.

Ian Stuart McDonald, aged 53, of Orchard Grove, Gornal, was handed a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 costs and £295 costs, for making a false statement to Dudley Council to dishonestly obtain housing benefit.
