DUDLEY health chiefs have splashed out £60,000 to help launch a new support service for people with mental wellbeing issues.

The borough’s Clinical Commissioning Group has agreed to fund the award-winning webside ‘Big White Wall’ for one year.

The website offers online support for people experiencing emotional or psychological distress.

Support options include online resources to aid self-care, wellbeing tests, peer support plus creative art and writing therapies.

Trained staff are on hand at all times to provide extra support and ensure everyone is safe.

By the end of its pilot year in 2008, Big White Wall’ had 3,000 users and extensive feedback highlighting the value of improving mental wellbeing.

Dr Mona Mahfouz, who is a member of Dudley’s Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “When mental and psychological distress arises, getting the right sort of help - and getting it early - is key to recovery.

“Having access to the ‘Big White Wall’ is yet another tool that will provide help to those in need of it.”

‘Big White Wall’ is free to anyone aged 16 or over living in Dudley borough.

Anyone with a Dudley GP can access the service by logging onto the ‘Big White Wall’ and then using their postcode as a reference to gain access.
