CHANCELLOR Gordon Brown has been formally invited to the next St Thomas's Community Games after backing last summer's inaugural event.
Councillor Shaukat Ali has written to Mr Brown to thank him for supporting last June's Games and also sent the top politician a commemorative event programme, games medal designed by Castle High students and a Community Games t-shirt.
The Chancellor wrote a foreword for the event's official programme and Cllr Ali invited him to the next games held in June 2008.
The two-week extravaganza saw Dudley folk take part in sports including football, cricket and basketball.
Cllr Ali said: "I believe St Thomas's Community Games is a model for supporting which every village, town and city in the country leading up to the 2012 Games can follow."
