KIND hearted bosses at Ashwood Nurseries will be hoping for a bumper turnout when owner John Massey opens his garden to the public next Saturday June 1.

Situated in three acres next to the Wall Heath based nursery, the canal-side garden is reckoned by many experts to be one of the best in the country and has been featured in several national publications.

Entry fee is £5 and money raised will be donated to Dudley based White House Cancer Support, which is Ashford Nurseries chosen charity for the year.

Visitors can look forward to guided tours of the garden, which is currently an array of colour with late spring flowering shrubs, mid season clematis plus plenty of herbaceous plants and patio pots.

It’s the fourth time this year John Massey has opened his garden, which has already raised a magnificent total of £9,000.

Manager Philip Baulk claimed: “It’s an excellent total of money when you consider the current economy. The garden is in magnificent shape at the moment and it’s remarkable the number of people who keep coming back to see it.

“Obviously we’re looking to considerably increase the current total of money raised for White House.

We have other events like Winter in Bloom, while there are collection tins situated around the nursey where customers have been extremely generous.

“Last year we raised £19,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind, but the weather was terrible. It rained five times out isx when we opened the garden!

They’ll be a number of attractions taking place, including a performance by Sedgley Morris Men at 11-30am, providing the weather holds.
