CHARITY fundraising was on a roll for News Group reporter Martyn Smith at the end of a UK-long cycling challenge.

Martyn joined Warren Evans from Base Studios in Stourbridge to cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise cash for Dementia UK.

The 12-day, 912-mile journey was the first of a number of events by the pair - plus their families and friends - to raise £5,000 for the charity within 12 months.

Cash donated during and after the John O'Groats to Land's End ride has already pushed the total beyond £3,450.

Martyn, from Stourbridge, said: "It was a great sense of achievement to cross the finishing line and our families were there to cheer us on, which made the end of the trip even more special.

"Most importantly our fundraising campaign for Dementia UK is off to a great start and we both want to say a big thank you to everyone who has made a donation so far."
