EXPERTS are making pre-historic preparations for a festival in Dudley which will take visitors on a trip back into history.
The town's Rock and Fossil Festival promises to be a time travelling treat for people of all ages with a series of dinosaur-themed talks by scientists ranging from light-hearted lectures to high-tech topic like CERN imaging technology.
The festival will be running at Dudley Town Hall and Dudley Museum and Art Gallery from 10am to 5pm on Saturday September 28 and 10am to 4pm on Sunday September 29.
Speakers will include distinguished academics from Birmingham, Manchester and Oxford universities plus acclaimed geologists.
The event will also include stalls selling minerals, fossils and jewellery, fossil casting, trilobite racing, glitter tattoo artist, a full-sized woolly mammoth, dinosaur craft activities and a competition for people to win prizes donated by the exhibitors at the event.
Councillor Tracy Wood, Dudley cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “We’re so lucky to have attracted such top name academics to Dudley to share their knowledge with local audiences. Although they are all specialists, these 40 minute talks are fascinating and fun for all ages."
Admission costs £2.60 for adults, £1.60 for children aged four to 15 and £8 for a family ticket which admits two adults and three children. Price includes entrance and activities at both venues.
