Dudley cancer charity gets building society boost
5:00pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
A DUDLEY cancer charity got a building society bonus after a donation voted for by customers at Merry Hill.
The West Bromwich Building Society branch at the shopping centre chose White House Cancer Support based in Ednam Road to get the cash from its Community Counts scheme. Runners up Headway Black Country and Cruse Bereavement Care received £250 each.
Chris Barron, manager of White House Cancer Support, said: “We have to raise around 40 per cent of our overall funding costs every year in order to continue helping local cancer patients, so kind donations like this from the West Brom are hugely appreciated.
Claire Page, Merry Hill branch manager for West Bromwich Building Society, said: “We really believe in supporting the community and the good causes that do so much to improve the lives of local people. White House Cancer Support was a popular choice with our customers and I am thrilled to make this donation on their behalf.”
