Borough charities will net funds from football match
12:00pm Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
FOOTBALL fans across the borough are invited to attend a match tomorrow (Sunday) to raise money for local charities.
Dudley Town Football Club’s managers and coaches will compete against the Mayor of Dudley 11, made up of councillors and council officers, at the Dell Stadium on Bryce Road, Pensnett.
The Mayor of Dudley, councillor Alan Finch, said: ”We were keen to take part in the event when Dudley Town Football Club offered to host the charity match to help raise money for my two chosen charities.
"I hope people will come along and support the event and help raise as much money as possible on the day.”
Stephen Austin, chairman of Dudley Town Football Club, added: “We were delighted when our own nominated charity The White House, asked if we could take part in, and host this charity game at the Dell Stadium. I really hope the people of Dudley support this game and the two very worthy charities that our Mayor supports.”
All money raised at the event will go to the Mayor of Dudley’s two chosen charities, which are White House Cancer Support in Dudley and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
The event, which kicks off at 3pm, is free but spectators will be asked to make donations to the charities.
