DUDLEY Building Society is heading for a new base which could be a good move for borough jobs.
The company this week completed its transfer to a new headquarters at the Waterfront near the Merry Hill Centre.
The company's boss says the change is an important step in the modernisation of the building society, which has six Black Country branches and around 33,000 members.
Dudley Building Society chief executive, Jeremy Wood, said: “Dudley Building Society has been a fixture of the local landscape for over 150 years and we continue to draw our sense of purpose and belonging from our Black Country roots.
"Our new head office gives us the room to build on those strong local bonds and as our forward looking plans begin to mature, we shall be looking to the local community for new personnel to add to the ten head office roles we have already created this year."
John Polychronakis, chief executive of Dudley Council, added: “The opening of Dudley Building Society’s new head office, here in its heartland, is the kind of positive statement that can only spell good news for the area and prospects for fresh job creation.”
