FORMER Birmingham Poet Laureate Roy McFarlane will be performing at Dudley Library to showcase modern black British poetry.

The free event, which will also feature, Ita Gooden and Marcia Calame will be on Wednesday December 11, 6pm until 7pm.

Councillor Stuart Turner, Dudley cabinet member for libraries, said: “This sort of event is perfect for those interested in culture, reading and poetry.

“We hope as many people as possible will go along and experience these live poetry readings from these wonderful British poets.”

Roy Macfarlane was Birmingham’s Poet Laureate from 2010 until 2011, Ita Gooden was one of 12 poets chosen to write a national poem for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Marcia Calame has been included in several poetry.
