COPS hunting two men who stole a large quantity of cigarettes in Dudley are appealing for witnesses to light up their investigation.

The offence took place at 11.20am December 29 on Dudley Southern Bypass between the Pegasus Island and towards the Aldi island.

A man driving a black Nissan Pathfinder vehicle was stopped and forced out of the car by the men, who were in a small white van.

The offenders removed thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes which had just been purchased from a nearby cash and carry from the boot of the car and made off towards Dudley.

Acting detective sergeant Matt Nightingale, from Dudley CID, said: "There would have been a number of vehicles travelling on the bypass at the time of the robbery and we would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened. We would also ask anyone who has been offered cheap cigarettes for sale from men fitting the description to call us."

The offenders are described as Asian men, the first being in his early 40s, six feet, of medium build, clean shaven and wearing dark clothing.

The second was taller and slimmer than the first, in his early 50s with very short black hair. He was wearing brown jeans and a dark jacket, both had local accents.

Anyone with information should call Dudley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
