THE unsung heroes of Dudley borough will be rewarded for their contribution to the community at the annual Mayor’s Civic Awards.

Worthy candidates, who work tirelessly for the benefit of others, can now be nominated for one of the six awards.

The categories are: sport, arts, community spirit, environment, education and business.

Dudley Mayor councillor Alan Finch will choose four people or groups he feels have stood out to him on his civic engagements as nominees for the seventh trophy, the Mayor’s Award, The winner of this award will be decided by an online public vote next month but the other winners will be picked by a panel of judges.

Cllr Finch said: “The Mayor’s Civic Awards is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the work of the people who work tirelessly in their communities for the good of the borough.

“Every year we are reminded of the hugely important work these people do, and I hope we can go some way to saying thank you to them this year through these awards.”

The winners will be presented with their trophies by cllr Finch at a civic ceremony in April.

Nominations can be made online at www.dudley.gov.uk/civicawards or forms can be picked up from the borough's libraries and leisure centres.
