CHARITY fundraisers turned their memories into money for a good cause by lighting up Christmas.
The Beacon Centre For The Blind is better off to the tune of £3,500 after people sponsored lights on the charity’s Forget Me Not Tree in memory of dead relatives.
The tree, at the Beacon Centre’s headquarters in Sedgley, was lit up throughout the festive period and a dedication was made into a book of remembrance for each light sponsored.
Jenni Fryer, fundraising manager for the Beacon Centre, said: “Every year the centre’s Christmas tree sparkles with hundreds of lights, demonstrating the tremendous support we receive for our work with visually impaired people across the West Midlands and Staffordshire.
“This vital funding enables us to offer a full range of residential, day care and community services to help local people. For example, just £60 can fund an outreach worker for a day, supporting visually impaired people to lead more independent lives in the community.”
